Saudi ARAMCO signs $4.5 billion agreement for oil and gas megaprojects

The contract was signed as part of Saudi Vision 2030 and was designed to enhance the company’s energy sustainability, diversify Saudi Arabia’s economy, expand gas production, and localize domestic content.

China Communications Constructions Company to open Expressway in Uganda

The 49.5km expressway will open in May 2018, with 80% progress of civil work to date. It was observed that the only remaining impediment to completion is government's delay to resolve land acquisition issues in some places.

Burkina Faso launches West Africa’s largest solar power plant

The 55-hectare power plant is the largest in the Sahel region and will produce 33 megawatts. The plant's solar panels are capable of annually pumping out 56 gigawatts.

Two counties in Kenya signed the Thwake Multi-Purpose Dam

The contract was signed by county governments of Makueni and Kitui with China Gezhouba Group Company. The dam that would provide clean water to over 1.3m people, is currently the largest project in East Africa.

VINCI awarded contract to build eight photovoltaic power plants in Senegal

The company was awarded a €26.8 million contract for the construction of eight photovoltaic power plant with a combined capacity of 17MW. The plants will be spread over four regions with a total of 62,850 solar panels, enabling to supply power to isolated regions.

Fluor Corporation awarded contract for Vopak fuel storage terminal in South Africa

Fluor corporation announced it was awarded the expansion project for Vopak fuel storage terminal in Durban, South Africa. The project is part of a program to exploit the increased demand for clean fuel in Southern Africa.

CB&I awarded $95 million EPC contract by Saudi Aramco

CB&I was awarded an engineering, procurement and construction management contract for SASREF refinery in Al-Jubail City, Saudi Arabia. The agreement was as part of SASREF’s modernization and expansion plans of its refineries.

China Gezhouba Group awarded contract for Nigeria hydro power project

CGGC signed an agreement for the hydropower project for $5.792 billion. The project is expected to be completed in 87 months with the consortium of CGGC, Sinohydro Corp. Ltd. and CGCOC Group Co. Ltd at stakes of 45, 35 and 20%, respectively.

EIFFAGE awarded contract for expansion project for Tema Port in Ghana

Meridian Port Services awarded the contract to a consortium formed by EIFFAGE worth $120 million. The project is due to commence in January 2018 and is expected to be completed in 28 months.

Dubai Hotel awarded “Hospitality Project of the Year” at CW Awards 2017

Jumeirah Al-Naseem hotel won the award at the Construction Week Awards 2017. The hotel won for its successful delivery in a challenging natural environment.
