Gabon to bring internet and mobile services to 2700 rural villages
Gabon’s telecom regulator Arcep announced the official launch of a new Universal Service program aiming to connect 2,700 villages still without internet and mobile services. The Universal Service initiative has already started with a project to cover 29 villages in partnership with Gabon Telecom, which is on track to bring coverage to the population by the end of the year.

Minister of Telecommunications confirms commercial launch of 4G this month
Yasser Elkady, the Egyptian Minister of Communications and Information Technology, announced the imminent launch of 4G. The head of the national telecoms sector said that mobile very high-speed technology will be made available to the consumer during this month of September.

Vodafone suspends internet connectivity in Cameroon
Following a directive issued by the Cameroon’s Telecommunications Regulatory Agency, Vodafone Cameroon has confirmed it has suspended its internet services in the country until further notice. Authorities in Cameroon are making moves to compel Vodafone to apply for its own license. Since it began operations in 2016, Vodafone had been using the license issued to Northwave SARl which was subsequently acquired by Afrimax Group to create Vodafone Cameroon. This arrangement, according to authorities, is illegal.
