BP in talks with Iraqi Government to boost production in Kirkuk

October 23, 2017 - Iraqi Oil Minister Jabar al-Luaibi met with a senior BP executive on Monday to discuss developing and boosting production from Kirkuk oilfield, a ministry spokesman said. BP's president in the Middle East was asked to to help increase output from Kirkuk oilfield to more than 700,000 barrels per day.

Total interested in developing Iraq's Majnoon oil field

October 13, 2017 - Total is interested in acquiring the oil field of Majnoon, in southern Iraq, after the announced departure of peer Royal Dutch Shell, the Iraqi oil ministry said. Shell has overseen the field, whose reserves are estimated at 12.58 billion barrels, since 2010. According to the ministry, US Chevron is also interested in the field.

CH2M to support BP in developing offshore gas fields in Senegal and Mauritania

October 5, 2017 - CH2M has been awarded a new marine engineering support contract on BP's innovative Tortue development offshore Mauritania and Senegal. The project involves subsea gas production, a floating gas treatment facility, a pipeline with domestic gas connection points and a nearshore hub facility where the gas is converted into liquefied natural gas (LNG).

Shell plans to drill 63 wells in Egypt in 2018

October 12, 2017 - Royal Dutch Shell planned to drill 63 wells in Egypt in 2018 at different geological structures in the Western Desert. Shell’s projects in the next period include Phase 9b in the West Delta Deep Marine Concession with $1.6 billion in total investments.

Algeria injects 27 billion dinars in its Gas programme

October 11, 2017 - The Algerian minister of energy just revealed that 27 billion dinars have been allocated to the country’s gas programme. This will help pay all companies participating to the project. The gas programme aims to increase the country’s penetration rate for natural gas. So far, it helped cover 60% of the territory, according to its Director, Mustapha Guitouni.

Total to explore Guinea's offshore basins

October 11, 2017 - Total will assess the hydrocarbon potential off the coast of Guinea, according to an announcement by the company and Guinean authority. Total and the National Office of Petroleum of Guinea, or ONAP, have signed a study agreement covering nearly 55,000 square kilometers of deep and ultra-deep offshore areas off the coast of Guinea Conakry.

Guinea: Total reinforces its exploration in West Africa

October 10, 2017 - Total and the National Office of Petroleum of Guinea (ONAP) signed a Technical Evaluation Agreement to study deep and ultra deep offshore areas located off the coast of Guinea Conakry, covering approximately 55,000 square kilometers.

Glencore takes control of Chevron South African assets in near $1 billion deal

October 6, 2017 - GLENCORE is to spend $973 million (£743 million) buying a majority stake in Chevron's oil assets in South Africa and Botswana. Under the deal, Glencore will take 75 percent ownership of Chevron's refineries, pipelines and petrol stations in the two southern African countries; the combined business made $138 million in pretax profits last year.

Oil giant BP starts production at $16 billion Oman gas field 

September 26, 2017 - BP joined the Ministry of Oil & Gas of Oman to announce that production has started from the massive $16 billion Khazzan gas field. The field is run by BP in a joint venture with Oman Oil Company Exploration and Production. It has tight gas reserves lying at depths of up to five kilometers in narrow bands of extremely hard, dense rock.

Russian Companies Willing to Tap into Morocco’s Gas Projects

September 23, 2017 - Russia’s Novatek natural gas producer sees Morocco as a promising market for supplying liquefied natural gas (LNG) and is interested in taking part in the construction of a regasification terminal. Novatek’s CEO suggested that LNG from Russia can fully or partially replace supplies of pipeline gas to Morocco from Saudi Arabia, as negotiations with Riyadh on extending the contract are still underway.

Ghana's goal of plentiful power faces high costs and unreliable supply

September 22, 2017 - Ghana is seeking to tap into relatively cheap and plentiful global supplies of liquefied natural gas. In the past month, the government has agreed LNG supply deals with Equatorial Guinea and Gazprom of Russia. Instead of building a costly permanent LNG terminal, the country is planning to invest in a cheaper floating storage and regasification unit (FSRU), which will be moored off the country's coast.

Russia's Gazprom Signs LNG Supply Deal with Ghana

September 18, 2017 - Russian gas giant Gazprom has signed a 12-year deal to supply Ghana National Petroleum Corporation (GNPC) with liquefied natural gas, a subsidiary of Gazprom Marketing and Trading Group said recently. Gazprom Global LNG Limited (GGLNG) suggested that it will start supplying liquefied natural gas in 2019.

Nigeria's Shoreline Energy signs $300 million gas deal with Shell

September 11, 2017 - Nigerian energy company Shoreline has signed a $300 million agreement with the local unit of Shell to develop gas infrastructure around the commercial capital, Lagos. Shell said that it would place more emphasis on gas rather than oil in the West African country, which has the world's ninth-largest proven gas reserves at 187 trillion cubic feet.

Statoil adds exploration licenses in South Africa

September 7, 2017 - Statoil has acquired participating interests in two additional offshore frontier blocks, including one operatorship. Statoil has completed a transaction with ExxonMobil Exploration and Production South Africa Limited, acquiring a 35% interest in Exploration Right 12/3/252 Transkei-Algoa. Operator ExxonMobil retains 40% interest, while Impact Africa holds 25%. The license covers approximately 45,000 square kilometers in water depths up to 3,000 meters.
