KPMG: ACCA Corporate Governance study ranked Ghana 12 out of 15 African countries 

The report looks at 15 markets across Africa, with varying degrees of experience in economic growth, increasing population, and urbanisation levels, all presenting challenges and opportunities for companies and investors. Governance requirements were assessed based on their clarity and completeness of content, degree of enforceability and prevalence in existing instruments e.g. company laws, listing rules and codes of corporate governance.

Egypt: PWC report Egypt ranks 19 among world’s 21 most powerful economies in 2030

Egypt was ranked the 19th most powerful economy out of a list of the world’s 21 most powerful economies in 2030, according to a report published by global accounting firm PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC). The report said that emerging markets will start to dominate rankings of the world's top economies by 2030.

UAE: KPMG introduces CSR initiative to recognise women in workforce

KPMG has launched an initiative aimed at working women in the UAE under the national ‘Year or Giving' plan, as part of its ongoing corporate social responsibility (CSR) programme. KPMG has donated and distributed over 200 ‘care packages' containing a number of basic necessities to women at a labour accommodation in the UAE. The firm has also encouraged its employees to contribute and donate one or more care packages to the cause.

Angola: Incatema Consulting to develop $73M agro-pastoral project in Cuanza Norte district

Spanish consulting and engineering firm, Incatema Consulting, has obtained the approval of Angola’s government to develop an agro-pastoral project in the Samba Caju municipality, in the Cuanza Norte district. Valued at $73 million, the project should help valorize the region’s agricultural potential and falls in line with the government’s objective to promote projects that improve agricultural processing and output in the country.

South Africa: Wits University drops KPMG as auditor

The University of the Witwatersrand (Wits), is dropping KPMG as its auditor after a scandal about the firm's work for businessman friends of President Jacob Zuma. The university suggested that KPMG had not been sufficiently transparent and that it is hard to reconcile KPMG's conclusion that no one did anything illegal.
